Eleven Caprices for Two Violins

The video of violinists Ryo Koyama and Maho Harada playing Leonard Salzedo’s Eleven Caprices for Two Violins is now live on YouTube and also features on the Leonard Salzedo website and and on Leonard Salzedo Society’s Instagram

It is a wonderful piece, written in 1951, showcasing many different styles, and brilliantly played by these two young violinists. We hope they will play more Salzedo in the future.

Four hands on one piano

I had a delightful trip on 11th June to Warwick Arts Centre, part of the University of Warwick in Coventry, to hear Lynn Arnold and Charles Matthews play Variations on Vive Henri IV.  A fantastic piece, with many different and at times humorous variations, which Leonard wrote specially for his friends Harvey Dagul and Isabel Beyer, husband and wife piano duetists he knew through the St Albans Centre of the Incorporated Society of Musicians.

Charles and Lynn are accomplished and established duettists themselves with concerts and recordings to their names.

Charles is a long-time champion of Leonard’s music. He conducted the Viola Concerto at the 2022 Leonard Salzedo Celebration Concert, and transcribed it for viola and piano.

Concerts

The next concert featuring Salzedo’s music will be on 12^th September in Surbiton, Surrey as part of the Thames Concert series – the Halcyon Quartet playing String Quartet no 5. Further details to follow.
