24th September 2024 is 103 years since my father Leonard Salzedo was born.

His music is still being played! And the Leonard Salzedo Society is constantly promoting new ventures and celebrating old ones.
Harpsichord Concerto
Here is a video of the June 2024 Palo Alto concert of Leonard’s Harpsichord Concerto played by my cousin Jonathan Salzedo and his ensemble the Albany Consort as part of their 50th anniversary celebrations.
The recording, about 26 minutes long, includes a short introduction by me where I allude to scales featured in the Concerto, and where that idea may have come from, and Jonathan elaborates on the nature of the scales. (I’ll be posting another blog soon with some detailed notes Jonathan wrote about the Concerto).
Viola Concerto concert
Earlier in June, the Viola Concerto was performed in Greenwich by Richard Crabtree, violist, and Irina Lyakhovskaya, pianist – see previous post
Percussion Concerto concert
In October last year, the Percussion Concerto was performed in Surrey as part of the Thames Concert Series.
2022 Celebration Concert
And in 2022 we had the wonderful Celebration Concert at Conway Hall, London – see previous post – what a wonderful night
